Cancer Awareness Months and Colors

January is cervical cancer health awareness month. The color chosen is teal or teal with white border.

February is national cancer prevention month. There is no official color for this month, but people prefer to wear white in support of this program.

March is the month for national colorectal cancer awareness month, Lymphedema "D" day. The color for this month is light sky blue.

April is the month for many programs such as testicular cancer awareness week, cancer control month, cancer fatigue awareness day, national minority cancer awareness week, head and neck cancer awareness week, national young adult cancer awareness week etc. Purple is the color is support for testicular cancer patients.

June is the month of national cancer survivors day and sarcoma awareness week. Yellow is the color for June.

September is the month for support for programs like childhood cancer awareness, thyroid cancer awareness week, ovarian cancer awareness week, prostate cancer awareness, leukemia and lymphoma awareness and gynecologic cancer awareness. The cancer awareness colors for this month are light blue, orange, light green, gold and teal.

November signifies national hospice month, lung cancer awareness week, national marrow awareness month, lung cancer awareness, pancreatic cancer awareness and family caregivers month. The color for November is white or cream and purple.

Cancer Awareness Ribbon Colors

Blue Color Ribbons: Blue color represents two types of cancer, colorectal and colon cancer. Blue color ribbons are very popular in Canada as a symbol for cancer related issues such as chewing tobacco and smoking. Light blue ribbons also represents prostate cancer. Brown, Black and Grey Ribbons: Black ribbons are a sign of melanoma awareness. Grey ribbons are a sign of support towards people suffering from brain cancer while brown ribbons are a symbol of anti-tobacco awareness.

Other Color Ribbons: Lavender has been a symbol for many general cancer awareness programs. Orange ribbons signify leukemia and lymphoma while green is used as a symbol for kidney cancer. Yellow ribbons symbolize bladder cancer. White color is for bone cancer and pearl color is a symbol for lung cancer and mesothelioma.
